News:

Got back from Buffalo on Saturday night. Man it was freezing there.
We were in the suburbs so nothing to do but sit inside to not freeze to death.
I got 4th in SC4 and I don’t know about Tekken.

In other news, Two more days for SF HD remix. We all can’t wait to mash the buttons and rank top online. Actually because of GGPO, we may actually get a good online experience.

MK vs DCU: Notations

Posted on Nov 18, 2008 01:10:44 PM

————————————-
Mortal Kombat Notations
————————————-
Just want to inform you guys that the notation for Mortal Kombat sucks balls.
Since everybody is starting MK vs DCU, it should be fine if we welcome new notations.
My notation is not hard to understand, you may even say it’s better.

What are you Notations you say?
Notations are what we as gamers define the buttons or movement name.
Basically it’s hard to write down toward all the time when you can just say “QCF”
Notations just makes it much simpler for us to understand what is being said.

All of my tutorials will follow these notations:

Attack 1 = 1
Attack 2 = 2
Attack 3 = 3
Attack 4 = 4
“Block” = [5]
“Evade” = 6

f – tap forward d/f – tap down/forward
b – tap backwards d/b – tap down/back
d – tap down u/f – tap up/forward
u – tap up u/b – tap up/back

N – Neutral
SS – Sidestep, Hold [6] while moving D or U.
QCF – Quarter circle forward (Circle stick from down to forward)
QCB – Quarter circle back (Circle stick from down to back)
HCF – Half circle forward (Circle stick from back to down to forward)
HCB – Half circle back (Circle stick from forward to down to back)

+ – Moves must be done together
, – Moves must be done right after the other
~ – Moves must be done IMMEDIATELY after the other
_ – Or i.e. 1_2_3_4
[] – Number between it means the Button has to be held down. Usually for Block or Evade.
> – Move following the > has the option of being slightly delayed
: – Move Following the : has to be timed properly. JUST FRAMES
RN – While running (f,f)

It maybe hard to learn this in the beginning but trust me when I say, it is easier this way.
Better I do it when you guys just started playing or later on when everybody is accustomed to their own set of name conventions.
